No public price: the pricing page says licences are priced per user plus a platform fee that scales with user count, integrations are free, and quotes are sized by team bands from 1–50 to 10,000+ users. Expect an annual contract rather than a monthly card payment.

Overview

About Gong

Gong captures a sales team's calls, video meetings and email, transcribes them and extracts what matters to each deal — risks, objections, competitor mentions, next steps — then rolls that up into pipeline reviews, forecasts and rep coaching for managers. The vendor now frames it as a revenue AI operating system with engagement sequences and AI agents layered on the conversation data. It is sold per user with a platform fee on top, quoted through sales, and exposes a documented API and OAuth app framework for pulling calls, transcripts and stats or pushing CRM data in. Gong.io Ltd. was founded in 2015 by Amit Bendov and Eilon Reshef, launched publicly in 2016, and lists San Francisco first among its offices.

Editorial verdict

Pros & cons of Gong

medium confidence

Gong is the reference product for conversation intelligence: if you run a sales floor of 20-plus reps and your managers coach from call recordings, it is the tool they will ask for by name. The price is opaque, the platform fee makes it expensive for small teams, and most of the value needs a CRM and calendar integration project up front — so for a five-person team a lighter recorder does the job.

Pros

  • Transcription, deal risk, coaching and forecasting sit on one dataset instead of three tools
  • Public API and OAuth app framework with calls, transcripts, users, stats and CRM upload endpoints
  • Platform fee covers integrations, so connecting the existing stack costs nothing extra
  • Free companion apps for iPhone and Android with deal views, offline call playback and a mobile meeting recorder

Cons

  • No published pricing; every quote is bespoke and layered with a platform fee
  • Recording every customer call raises consent and data-retention work in regulated or EU markets
  • API is rate-limited to 3 calls a second and 10,000 a day by default, which constrains bulk analytics
  • The product has sprawled into engagement and agents, so the core recorder now comes with a bigger suite than many teams need

Best for

  • Sales organisations with dozens of reps who coach from recorded calls
  • Revenue leaders who want forecasts and pipeline risk derived from what was actually said to customers
  • RevOps teams that want call and deal data flowing into Salesforce or HubSpot through a documented API

Not for

  • Small teams or solo sellers, where the per-user licence plus platform fee outruns the benefit
  • Anyone who needs a price on the website before talking to sales

Watch out: Budget for the platform fee as well as the per-seat licence — the public page confirms both exist but names neither, and the fee scales with how many users you support.
