What our research says

Avoma

Avoma covers more of the revenue stack than a plain meeting recorder, taking a call from scheduling through transcription and coaching into forecasting. The catch is modular pricing: the advertised seat price buys only the meeting assistant, and the intelligence modules that justify the platform are billed separately.

Pros

  • Scheduling, recording, notes and CRM write-back in one subscription
  • Free viewer and collaborator seats keep non-recording colleagues off the bill
  • API and webhooks for exporting meeting data
  • In market since late 2017, with HIPAA compliance available on Enterprise

Cons

  • Conversation and revenue intelligence are extra per-seat add-ons
  • Startup tier caps at 25 paid seats, forcing an upgrade as teams grow
  • Enterprise requires a 10-seat minimum on annual billing

Gong

Gong is the reference product for conversation intelligence: if you run a sales floor of 20-plus reps and your managers coach from call recordings, it is the tool they will ask for by name. The price is opaque, the platform fee makes it expensive for small teams, and most of the value needs a CRM and calendar integration project up front — so for a five-person team a lighter recorder does the job.

Pros

  • Transcription, deal risk, coaching and forecasting sit on one dataset instead of three tools
  • Public API and OAuth app framework with calls, transcripts, users, stats and CRM upload endpoints
  • Platform fee covers integrations, so connecting the existing stack costs nothing extra
  • Free companion apps for iPhone and Android with deal views, offline call playback and a mobile meeting recorder

Cons

  • No published pricing; every quote is bespoke and layered with a platform fee
  • Recording every customer call raises consent and data-retention work in regulated or EU markets
  • API is rate-limited to 3 calls a second and 10,000 a day by default, which constrains bulk analytics
  • The product has sprawled into engagement and agents, so the core recorder now comes with a bigger suite than many teams need

Which one fits

Choose Avoma if you need

  • Sales teams that want call notes landing in the CRM automatically
  • Managers who need call scoring and coaching rather than just recordings
  • Customer-success groups tracking account health from meeting content

Choose Gong if you need

  • Sales organisations with dozens of reps who coach from recorded calls
  • Revenue leaders who want forecasts and pipeline risk derived from what was actually said to customers
  • RevOps teams that want call and deal data flowing into Salesforce or HubSpot through a documented API
