Picsart is no longer a photo editor with a few AI tricks. On October 19, 2026 its pricing page sells "every frontier model in one subscription": 140 or more image, video and audio models on the top plan, fifteen creative agents, a command-line tool and an MCP server, plus the editor, templates and stickers it started with. Pro costs $15 a month, or $10.50 a month billed yearly; Ultra is $47 a month, or $37.50 billed yearly, per seat. Every plan comes with a monthly credit allowance, and the credits expire at the end of the cycle.

That is a lot of product for someone who opens the app to remove one background a week. This guide sorts the alternatives by the job people actually came to Picsart for. Prices and limits are from the vendors' own pages on October 19, 2026, or from the dated check on each tool's card below; the cards show what is in our database now, which outlives this text.

Background removal and product photos

If the job is cutting out products, swapping backgrounds and exporting for a marketplace, three tools do only that and do it with fewer menus.

Photoroom is the one built for sellers: batch processing, a product-photo generator, AI fashion models, and an API. Its Pro plan is $7.50 a month billed yearly with 8,000 AI credits and 1,000 exports a month; the video generator and 4K output sit on the Max and Ultra plans, and Enterprise is priced on request. The limit to read before paying is the export count, not the credits: a shop that relists daily can hit 1,000 exports.

Pixelcut competes on the same ground from the phone. Pro is $10 a month or $8 billed yearly for 600 AI credits, unlimited background removal and upscaling, and three seats, which makes it the cheapest option for a small team sharing one account. Cutout.Pro runs everything on credits: a free account gets 5 credits and unlimited previews, and subscriptions start at 80 credits for $5 a month, so it suits occasional use and anyone who wants an API without a Photoroom-sized plan.

A real editor in the browser

Picsart's desktop editor is capable, but it lives inside the same account and credit system as the generators. Two browser editors keep layers, masks and text tools without the rest.

Pixlr is the closest in spirit to the editor Picsart used to be: a free, ad-supported version, then Plus at $2.49 a month, or $1.99 billed yearly, with about 80 AI images or edits a month, and Premium at $9.99, or $7.99 yearly, with 1,000 credits. Its generative fill and background removal are usable on the free tier with ads. BeFunky splits into a photo editor, a collage maker and a design tool, and sells Plus at $14.99 a month or $83.88 a year (about $7 a month), with Pro at $24.99 a month or $149.88 a year.

Quick fixes without an account

Clipdrop is the tool for one-off jobs: cleanup, upscaling, uncrop and relighting, each a single page. Free accounts get 20 uses per tool every 24 hours, 50 for text removal, at standard resolution; Pro raises that to 1,000 uses per tool a day at high resolution.

Presets and filters for phone photos

If what you miss is the filter drawer, VSCO still does that better than anyone and adds a photographer community. The free Starter tier has 15 presets; Plus is $29.99 a year, or $7.99 if billed monthly; Pro is $59.99 a year, or $12.99 monthly. It is the only tool here where yearly billing cuts the price by more than half.

If it is the video editor you use

Picsart's video tools overlap with CapCut, which stays free for short-form editing and keeps its AI set behind Pro. CapCut now lists Free, Pro, Ultra and Teams, but shows prices in the visitor's local currency and calls them reference only, so compare on the page you will actually pay on.

If it is the image generator

The models Picsart bundles are the same ones you can rent directly. Adobe Firefly sells four standalone tiers starting at 2,000 credits a month and is the one with a commercial-safety promise on its own models. Ideogram is the model that gets words inside the picture right, with a Basic plan around $8 a month for 400 priority credits. Leonardo.Ai and Midjourney both answered our price checks with a 403 this month, so their cards carry third-party figures with the date they were read.

  • Cutout.Pro 80 credits5
  • BeFunky Plus6.99
  • Photoroom Pro7.50
  • Pixelcut Pro8
  • Picsart Pro10.50

Where Picsart still wins

Nothing above replaces Picsart as a whole. If you use the templates and sticker library, bulk-edit fifty images at once, want several video models behind one button, or like the idea of agents that resize, localise and write listings for you, the $10.50 Pro plan is still the cheapest way to get all of that in one place. The two things to check before renewing are the credit meter, because unused credits vanish at the end of the month, and whether you used anything beyond the editor last month. If the answer is no, the editor alone costs a third as much elsewhere.

How we checked

Picsart, Photoroom and Pixlr prices were read on their pricing pages on October 19, 2026. BeFunky, Pixelcut, Cutout.Pro, Clipdrop, CapCut and VSCO figures come from the dated checks on their EffectHub cards, each with the source page. Leonardo.Ai and Midjourney block automated reads, so their cards say so and cite a third-party tracker with its date. More options are in the image editing and background removal categories, which rank by our Effect score rather than by this guide's jobs.
