What our research says

Looka

A fast way for a new business to land a usable mark and matching collateral, as long as you accept that the cheap package hands over a flat image you cannot resize.

Pros

  • Preview across cards, signage and social profiles before spending anything
  • Vector files and full ownership arrive with the $65 package
  • Brand Kit turns a single logo into several hundred ready-made templates

Cons

  • The cheapest package is a raster file only — no vectors, no clean resizing
  • Continued brand kit access is a subscription rather than a purchase
  • Results are recognisably generated and overlap between customers
  • No API, and no way to hand a designer editable sources

Nametastic

Checks availability at generation time, so the shortlist is not padded with names somebody already owns, and scores each candidate rather than dumping a wall of text. The credit accounting is the annoying part: a single search costs two or three credits, so a $9.99 month is fewer runs than it looks. Fine for one naming sprint, thin as a recurring subscription.

Pros

  • Availability is verified as names are generated, not after the fact
  • Credits roll over on subscriptions and pay-as-you-go credits do not expire
  • Each candidate is scored on memorability, pronounceability and brand fit
  • Covers 50+ TLDs rather than just .com

Cons

  • Credit maths is fiddly: two or three credits per search makes plan capacity hard to read
  • No API, so it cannot be wired into an automated naming workflow
  • Small Slovenian vendor with no public track record to fall back on
