What our research says

Designs.ai

A breadth play: fine when you need a passable logo, deck and voiceover in one afternoon and nobody is grading the craft. If any single output has to survive a client review, reach for a specialist instead.

Pros

  • Unusually wide module coverage: branding, image, video, storyboard, slides and audio under one login
  • Backed by a stock-media group, so asset sourcing and licensing are handled in-house
  • The recent rebuild dispatches requests to task-specific agents rather than one generic model

Cons

  • Pricing is invisible without an account, which makes evaluation awkward
  • No developer API
  • Every individual module trails the dedicated leader in its category
  • Repeated repositioning (Designs.ai, now 'Designs.ai by Pixlr') makes the roadmap hard to read

Looka

A fast way for a new business to land a usable mark and matching collateral, as long as you accept that the cheap package hands over a flat image you cannot resize.

Pros

  • Preview across cards, signage and social profiles before spending anything
  • Vector files and full ownership arrive with the $65 package
  • Brand Kit turns a single logo into several hundred ready-made templates

Cons

  • The cheapest package is a raster file only — no vectors, no clean resizing
  • Continued brand kit access is a subscription rather than a purchase
  • Results are recognisably generated and overlap between customers
  • No API, and no way to hand a designer editable sources
