Business is per user: Standard seats $20/month billed annually or $25 monthly, Premium seats $100 or $125, minimum 2 users; Enterprise is quote-only and annual. Ads may appear on Free and Go; Plus and above are ad-free. The developer API is billed separately by token. The OpenAI and ChatGPT sites refuse direct fetches, so these pages were read through a text reader proxy.
Use tool ↗About ChatGPT
ChatGPT answers questions and takes on tasks across text, pictures, documents and spoken input, with search, a code sandbox and picture generation built into the same window. Paid tiers raise message limits and open up the stronger reasoning models, a deep-research mode and connectors into other applications. Since early 2026 the free and Go tiers also carry advertising.

Pros & cons of ChatGPT
ChatGPT is the default general assistant and the one everyone else is measured against, but the tier you need is rarely the one you first buy. Free is now ad-supported, and the jump to genuinely unlimited reasoning is steep.
Pros
- Broadest tool surface of any consumer assistant: browsing, code, images, voice, connectors
- The $8 Go tier closed the gap between free and a $20 commitment
- Apps on every desktop and mobile platform, not just a web wrapper
- Model quality is consistently at or near the front of the field
Cons
- Advertising now appears on the free and Go tiers
- Message and reasoning limits are opaque and change without notice
- Tier structure has churned repeatedly, so any price you quote ages fast
- The API is a separate purchase, which surprises buyers who assume Plus includes it
Best for
- General knowledge work, drafting, analysis and code across one interface
- Anyone who wants file, image, voice and browsing input without assembling tools
- Teams that need admin controls and data-retention terms via Business or Enterprise
- Light users who want more headroom than free without paying $20
Not for
- Anyone who needs a guarantee their prompts never touch a third-party model provider
- Buyers who want predictable, flat-rate heavy reasoning usage below $100 a month
Watch out: OpenAI started showing ads to free and Go users in February 2026. If ad-free matters, Plus at $20 is the real floor, not the $8 headline.
