Creately VIZ
The point of VIZ over a standalone diagram generator is that the output lands as editable Creately shapes on a canvas your team already collaborates on, not as a picture you have to redraw. The frustration is commercial: the vendor will not show a price without a browser session, and the free plan's 45-item ceiling kills anything past a toy diagram.
Pros
- Generated diagrams arrive as editable canvas shapes, not flat images
- Covers flowcharts, mind maps, concept maps, ER, BPMN, UML, org charts, wireframes and cloud architecture in one product
- Shapes are data-linked, so diagrams carry notes and records rather than just geometry
- Exports include PDF and SVG, and enterprise buyers get regional data storage and an on-prem edition
Cons
- The plans page would not render prices for us, so cost is unknowable without signing up
- The free plan caps a canvas at 45 items, one folder and two imports
- No public API for generating diagrams programmatically
