What our research says

ChatFlowchart

The screenshot-to-editable-diagram direction is the part worth showing up for — most text-to-diagram tools only go one way. Export into Mermaid, Draw.io and Excalidraw means you are not trapped if you stop paying, and the 30-day pass is an honest option for someone with one deck to build. The vendor is completely anonymous, which is the usual caveat.

Pros

  • Reads screenshots and whiteboard photos back into editable diagrams
  • Around ten diagram types, including ERDs, UML, Gantt and probability trees
  • Exports to Mermaid, Draw.io and Excalidraw as well as PNG/SVG/PDF
  • A one-time 30-day pass and a credit pack exist alongside the subscription

Cons

  • No company, country or team named anywhere, including in the legal pages
  • The free tier watermarks PNG output and limits generations
  • The legal pages render as blank shells without JavaScript, so terms are hard to audit

Miro AI

The reason Miro AI beats a bolted-on chat box is context: the canvas is the prompt, so clustering, summarising and drafting land back on the board where the team already works. The cost model is the catch — AI credits are small on every tier and reset monthly, so real use pushes you upward. If your team is not already in Miro, none of this justifies a switch.

Pros

  • Uses existing board content as context, not a blank prompt
  • Prebuilt Playbooks for planning, prototyping and research
  • 250+ integrations plus a developer platform and MCP server
  • Free tier still includes 10 AI credits a month

Cons

  • AI credits are tightly capped: 25 per member on the $8 tier
  • Enterprise requires a 30-member minimum
  • Only worth paying for if the team is already on Miro

  • One-off diagram work, via the non-renewing 30-day pass

Choose Miro AI if you need

  • teams that already run workshops in Miro
  • summarising and clustering sticky-note sessions
  • turning board content into briefs or PRDs
