Overview

About Stoneforge

Stoneforge coordinates several coding agents, such as Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode, on one project. Each worker gets an isolated git worktree, a dispatch daemon hands ready tasks to idle workers by priority and dependency, and merge stewards test and integrate finished branches. A local web dashboard shows live agent output, tasks, merge requests, plans and workflows, and recent versions add sync with GitHub, Linear and Notion. You install it from npm, start it with a few commands and run it on your own machine; the project is Apache-2.0 licensed.

Editorial verdict

Pros & cons of Stoneforge

medium confidence

Stoneforge fits developers who already use coding agents and want several working at once without merge chaos. The worktree-per-worker model and the automatic merge review do the heavy lifting. It is new, from a very small team, so it suits experimenters more than organisations that need vendor support.

Pros

  • Each worker has its own git worktree, which avoids most merge conflicts
  • Dependency-aware dispatch stops two agents taking the same task
  • Works with Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode and syncs with GitHub, Linear and Notion
  • Free under the Apache-2.0 licence

Cons

  • Created in early 2026, so the track record is short
  • Runs locally and has no hosted option
  • Agent usage costs from the connected providers still add up

Best for

  • Developers running multiple coding agents in parallel on one repository
  • People who want a local dashboard showing every agent's progress and merge status

Not for

  • Teams that need a hosted service with support and a service-level agreement
  • Anyone new to coding agents who has not yet set up one agent on its own

Watch out: Several agents working at once multiply your token or subscription usage with Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode, so watch your provider limits before turning on autopilot dispatch.
