What our research says

Stoneforge

Stoneforge fits developers who already use coding agents and want several working at once without merge chaos. The worktree-per-worker model and the automatic merge review do the heavy lifting. It is new, from a very small team, so it suits experimenters more than organisations that need vendor support.

Pros

  • Each worker has its own git worktree, which avoids most merge conflicts
  • Dependency-aware dispatch stops two agents taking the same task
  • Works with Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode and syncs with GitHub, Linear and Notion
  • Free under the Apache-2.0 licence

Cons

  • Created in early 2026, so the track record is short
  • Runs locally and has no hosted option
  • Agent usage costs from the connected providers still add up

sudocode

sudocode is for developers who run coding agents on long tasks and keep losing context between sessions. Because everything lives in the repo, there is no service to trust or pay for. It is a young project with a small community, so expect rough edges and fast change.

Pros

  • Everything is stored in your repo, with no external database or service
  • CLI, local UI and MCP server in one npm package
  • Works with several coding agents and can sync with Beads, Spec-Kit and OpenSpec
  • Free under the Apache-2.0 licence

Cons

  • Small project, with a few hundred GitHub stars at the time of review
  • Requires Node and some setup per repository
  • Jira and Linear sync are listed as coming soon, not available
