Free coding assistant plugin from Zhipu AI for VS Code and JetBrains, with completion, chat and unit-test generation
CodeGeeX is an IDE assistant that grew out of a Tsinghua University research model and is now maintained by Zhipu AI (Z.ai). The plugin does code completion, comment-to-code, inline chat, code explanation and review, unit-test generation and repository-aware Q&A across 100+ programming languages, and it accepts prompts in English and Chinese. It ships for VS Code, JetBrains IDEs and HBuilderX and is free for all developers per the marketplace listings, while the research code and model weights are published on GitHub.
Marketplace listings state the assistant is free for all developers, with Pro/Lite model choices selectable inside the plugin. The main codegeex.cn site could not be loaded for verification, so any enterprise or private-deployment terms remain unconfirmed.
