Meshy

The default pick for fast 3D from prompts or concept art, and the auto-rigging plus first-party engine plugins are what separate it from the pack. Topology is still dense enough that hero assets need a retopo pass before they go into production.

Pros

  • Free plan gives 100 credits a month, enough to genuinely evaluate it
  • Auto-rigging with 600+ motion presets removes an entire manual stage
  • First-party plugins for Blender, Unity, Unreal, Godot, Maya and Roblox Studio
  • REST API opens at the $20 Pro tier rather than behind enterprise sales

Cons

  • Free-tier output is licensed CC BY 4.0; asset ownership only comes with a paid plan
  • Generated meshes are often dense and need retopology for animation-heavy work
  • Monthly credits reset and vanish; only purchased top-up credits carry over
  • Concurrency is capped (10 simultaneous tasks on Pro), which throttles bulk runs

Sloyd

Worth a look mainly for the topology and polycount controls, which matter more to game developers than raw mesh quality. If you just want the prettiest single mesh from a prompt, Meshy and Tripo generally win.

Pros

  • Parametric template generators produce predictable, clean geometry that prompt-only tools cannot match
  • Explicit control over triangles vs quads, polycount and 4K textures
  • Plugins for Unity, Unreal and Blender plus documented API access

Cons

  • 12 credits a month on the $15 tier is very thin for real production work
  • Prompt-driven organic shapes lag behind the dedicated text-to-3D leaders
  • API credits are prepaid and separate from the web plan, so costs sit in two buckets
