Use tool ↗About Sloyd
Sloyd builds 3D meshes from a text prompt, one image or several reference images, and also offers parametric template generators you adjust with sliders. Output settings cover polygon count, triangle or quad topology and texture resolution up to 4K, with auto-rigging and texture generation on top. Pros & cons of Sloyd
Worth a look mainly for the topology and polycount controls, which matter more to game developers than raw mesh quality. If you just want the prettiest single mesh from a prompt, Meshy and Tripo generally win.
Pros
- Parametric template generators produce predictable, clean geometry that prompt-only tools cannot match
- Explicit control over triangles vs quads, polycount and 4K textures
- Plugins for Unity, Unreal and Blender plus documented API access
Cons
- 12 credits a month on the $15 tier is very thin for real production work
- Prompt-driven organic shapes lag behind the dedicated text-to-3D leaders
- API credits are prepaid and separate from the web plan, so costs sit in two buckets
Best for
- Indie game teams needing quad-topology props at a controlled polycount
- Prototyping level filler and background assets before an artist pass
- Developers embedding 3D generation in a product through the API
Not for
- Hero characters or anything that needs artist-grade detail
- Studios with an existing DCC pipeline and modellers on staff
- High-volume generation on a small budget, given the tight credit counts
Watch out: The free Guest tier ships only a personal-use licence, so nothing you make there can go into a commercial game or store listing without upgrading.
