ConceptViz

ConceptViz is narrowly built for one job: turning a text description into a correctly labeled science figure, which is faster than dragging shapes in a general diagramming tool when the content is technical. It has moved upmarket since launch: the entry plan is now about $250 a year, document-driven figure sets need Pro, and the API sits on the $1,500-a-year Max plan.

Pros

  • Free start lets you try it without a card
  • Agent refines a figure over conversation and, on Pro, plans sets of related figures from your documents

Cons

  • Free start is only 2 image credits valid for 7 days

Lucidchart

The default choice for team diagramming: data-linked shapes and layers handle diagrams that outgrow a whiteboard tool, and the integration list means the diagram ends up where the work already happens. Per-seat pricing with a three-user minimum on Team makes it expensive for small groups, and Lucid keeps moving the product's URLs around.
