What our research says

Miro AI

The reason Miro AI beats a bolted-on chat box is context: the canvas is the prompt, so clustering, summarising and drafting land back on the board where the team already works. The cost model is the catch — AI credits are small on every tier and reset monthly, so real use pushes you upward. If your team is not already in Miro, none of this justifies a switch.

Pros

  • Uses existing board content as context, not a blank prompt
  • Prebuilt Playbooks for planning, prototyping and research
  • 250+ integrations plus a developer platform and MCP server
  • Free tier still includes 10 AI credits a month

Cons

  • AI credits are tightly capped: 25 per member on the $8 tier
  • Enterprise requires a 30-member minimum
  • Only worth paying for if the team is already on Miro

WiseMap

Refreshingly direct - you can generate a map before creating an account, and the credit table is published action by action so nothing is hidden. Non-expiring one-off packs suit people who mind-map in bursts rather than daily. It is an indie project built live on stream, which shows in both the charm and the thin operational guarantees.

Pros

  • Works without signup - guests get 100 credits and a working map
  • Chat interface refines and expands an existing map rather than regenerating it
  • One-off credit packs never expire, and maps stay unlimited once you have bought one
  • Publishes an exact per-action credit table, including which actions are free

Cons

  • Run by a single independent developer with no company entity or country disclosed
  • No live collaboration - sharing is read-only links or public gallery publication
  • Web search and high-quality images are gated behind having paid at least once
  • The developer's own site was unreachable when checked, which is not reassuring for continuity
