Character.AI hosts a very large library of user-authored personas that hold long in-character conversations, with group chats, shared scenes and voice calls built around them. Open-ended chat has been closed to under-18 accounts since 25 November 2025, and an age-assurance step run by a third-party verifier now gates access for everyone else. Minors keep character creation, short video generation through Imagine Chat and read-only access to their old conversations.
