Kindroid is a companion app where you write a character's backstory and personality and then talk to it by text, voice call or video call. It keeps several layers of memory so the character carries context across sessions, generates selfies and avatars on request, and supports group chats with more than one character at a time. Free accounts get a smaller distilled model, two characters and a couple of images every few hours; a subscription unlocks the flagship model, ten characters, custom voices and a monthly audio credit allowance. There is a documented developer API with its own key format and an open-source Discord bot built on it. Subscribing inside the app stores costs more than paying on the web.
A free tier gives unlimited messages on a distilled model, two characters and a selfie every two hours. The standard subscription is $13.99 a month, $37.99 quarterly or $139.99 a year when bought on the web; the same plans cost $15.99, $42.99 and $159.99 through the iOS and Google Play stores. New users get a three-day premium trial that needs a payment method. Ultra and MAX are monthly add-ons on top of the standard plan at $24.99 and $59.99 on the web, and selfie credits can be bought separately.

It is also honest about costs, publishing app-store versus web prices side by side. The memory tiers that make it good are sold as expensive add-ons.
Watch out: Cancelling the base subscription drops you to free even if Ultra or MAX is still being billed.
