What our research says

TTSLabs

A narrow tool that does one job for one audience: making donation alerts worth listening to. Because it layers on Streamlabs and StreamElements rather than replacing them, adoption costs nothing to reverse. The jump from free to $25 a month is abrupt with no middle tier, and 400 alerts a month runs out fast on an active channel.

Pros

  • 80+ custom voices available on the free tier as well as Pro
  • Sound clips triggerable from inside a donation message
  • Profanity filtering and per-voice controls to keep alerts safe on stream
  • Layers onto Streamlabs and StreamElements instead of replacing them
  • Desktop app for managing playback

Cons

  • Only two tiers — free, then $25/month with nothing between
  • Free tier caps enabled voices at 10 and clips at 25
  • No public API
  • No country or address published for TTSLabs LLC

Voicemod

Still the default voice changer for Discord and stream setups, and the free tier is usable — but the company has stopped publishing prices, which is an odd thing for a consumer app to do.

Pros

  • Operates at the system audio level, so any application picks it up without integration
  • Free tier is genuinely usable, just on a rotating subset of voices
  • VoiceLab allows custom voices rather than presets alone

Cons

  • No pricing page on the site — the price only appears after installing
  • Windows and macOS only
  • Free tier rotates its voice selection and caps you at one soundboard
  • Real-time processing adds noticeable CPU load on weaker machines
