Shadow is a Mac application from Taper Labs that detects and records meetings across Zoom, Teams, Meet, Webex, Discord, and Slack without joining as a visible bot participant, transcribing and labeling speakers in real time. User-defined Skills, editable prompts, turn that transcript into specific outputs like meeting notes, BANT breakdowns, or follow-up emails, and voice shortcuts can trigger capture and processing on demand. Transcription runs on-device, audio doesn't leave the Mac, and Taper Labs states conversations aren't used to train its models. Webhooks connect to Zapier, n8n, and Make for further automation.

Use tool ↗Shadow's bot-free recording and on-device transcription solve two real complaints about meeting-notetaker tools: awkward bot participants and audio leaving your machine. Skills give it more range than a plain transcription tool, but the whole product is Mac-only, so it's not an option for Windows-based teams.
Watch out: Because it doesn't join as a visible bot, make sure your own meeting-recording consent practices still cover participants who might not realize it's recording.
