Use tool ↗About Scribe
Scribe captures a workflow while you perform it in the browser or, on paid plans, in desktop and mobile apps, then assembles a how-to guide with annotated screenshots and written instructions for each step. Guides can be edited, branded, redacted, combined into longer documents and shared by link, embedded in wikis and help centres, or exported to PDF, HTML and Markdown. Newer features include Autocapture, which builds documentation from work a team is already doing, an Optimize product that maps how processes actually run, and an API and MCP connection so AI agents can use the captured workflows as context. Scribe is operated by Colony Labs, Inc. in San Francisco, formerly at the scribehow.com domain.

Pros & cons of Scribe
Scribe is a fast way for operations, IT, HR and training teams to turn routine software processes into shareable SOPs without writing or screenshotting by hand. Teams that need narrated video tutorials, or individuals who only document a few processes, may find the paid tiers expensive for what they use.
Pros
- Builds a full guide with screenshots and text from a single run-through
- Free plan for browser workflows with link sharing and embeds
- Redaction, branding and PDF, HTML and Markdown export on Pro
- API and MCP access for using captured workflows with AI agents
Cons
- Desktop and mobile capture and exports require a paid plan
- Pro Team requires at least five seats
- Guides are static screenshots, not video
Best for
- Operations and IT teams writing SOPs for software workflows
- Trainers and HR teams onboarding new hires onto internal tools
- Consultants delivering branded process guides to clients
Not for
- Creators who need narrated video tutorials rather than step guides
- Users who need desktop-app capture or exports on the free plan
Watch out: Pro Team's low per-seat price needs a five-seat minimum and the headline figures are for yearly billing; a single user on monthly billing pays $35 a month for Pro Personal.
