Use tool ↗About QuickGPT
QuickGPT is a small native macOS app that wraps the ChatGPT website in its own window, so it can be summoned from the menu bar, the Dock or a global shortcut and kept above other windows. It can launch at login, supports tabs, and lets you add custom CSS and JavaScript to tweak the ChatGPT interface. Because it is a plain web view rather than OpenAI's own app, it asks for far less system access and picks up web features as soon as they ship. It does not use the OpenAI API, so you need your own ChatGPT account. Made and sold by independent developer Sindre Sorhus.

Pros & cons of QuickGPT
A lightweight way to keep ChatGPT one shortcut away on a Mac without installing OpenAI's own app. It makes sense for people who live in the web interface and want it to behave like a utility. If you want API access, custom models or a Windows version, look elsewhere.
Pros
- Opens from the menu bar, the Dock or a keyboard shortcut
- Can stay on top of other windows and launch at login
- Custom CSS and JavaScript can restyle the ChatGPT interface
- Actively updated, with a release as recent as September 2026
Cons
- Only a wrapper around the ChatGPT website, so it breaks when the site changes
- Requires macOS 26 for the current version
- Not distributed through the App Store
Best for
- Mac users who want ChatGPT on a global shortcut
- Privacy-minded users who prefer a browser-style wrapper over the official app
Not for
- People who need the OpenAI API or per-token billing
- Anyone not on a recent macOS, since the current build requires macOS 26
Watch out: Current versions need macOS 26; on older systems you are limited to frozen free builds that will not get fixes when ChatGPT's web UI changes.
