PromptLayer moves prompts out of application code into a versioned registry that non-engineers can edit and deploy without a release. It pairs that registry with a dataset-backed evaluation harness — automated graders plus human review — and production tracing that links each request back to the prompt version, model cost and latency that produced it. Prompts are pulled at runtime through an SDK or REST API, so a prompt change ships independently of the app.
