Productboard

Productboard is an established product management platform used by large, well-known companies, now layering AI features like automatic insight extraction and spec drafting on top of its core feedback-and-roadmap workflow. It's a mature, enterprise-oriented tool rather than a lightweight app, so smaller teams may find the seat-based pricing and feature depth more than they need.

Pros

  • Long operating history (founded 2014) with named enterprise customers
  • AI agent (Spark) adds context-aware insight generation and spec drafting
  • API and MCP server support for integrating with other tools

Cons

  • Per-maker seat pricing gets expensive quickly for larger product teams
  • Business plan requires a minimum of 2 makers and Enterprise requires 5, raising the effective entry cost

Squad

Squad targets the part of product management that tools usually skip — deciding what to build — by running agents over feedback and usage data to produce opportunities, strategy docs and a roadmap. The trial takes no card, which makes it cheap to evaluate. Against that: no tier has a published price, so budgeting means a sales call, and the output is only as good as the data sources you can actually connect.

  • Produces opportunity maps, strategy documents and a roadmap, not just a summary
  • Vendor states connected data stays in Squad and is not used for model training

  • Multiple workspaces, unlimited integrations and export are held back for higher tiers
  • The company behind it, Basilisk Labs, was only registered in 2024 — a short track record
  • No public API listed for pushing conclusions into your own stack
