Two fact sheets from our own research, side by side — pricing, platforms, API access and status re-checked by us rather than quoted from the vendors. Only Dovetail ships a public API.

What our research says

Dovetail

Dovetail works best for teams that already have research and feedback scattered across many tools and want one AI-searchable layer on top, not for teams starting from a blank slate. Its compliance posture (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR) targets larger, more regulated buyers, which shows in the sales-only pricing.

Pros

  • Connects 38+ integrations plus API/CLI for custom sources
  • AI chat and semantic search across all connected feedback
  • Runs on AWS Bedrock with automatic PII redaction
  • SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and GDPR compliant

Cons

  • No published pricing anywhere on the site
  • Claimed efficiency metrics are vendor-reported
  • Enterprise compliance focus likely means enterprise-level pricing

Squad

Squad targets the part of product management that tools usually skip — deciding what to build — by running agents over feedback and usage data to produce opportunities, strategy docs and a roadmap. The trial takes no card, which makes it cheap to evaluate. Against that: no tier has a published price, so budgeting means a sales call, and the output is only as good as the data sources you can actually connect.

Pros

  • Agents work across connected feedback, usage data and stated goals rather than one input
  • Produces opportunity maps, strategy documents and a roadmap, not just a summary
  • Vendor states connected data stays in Squad and is not used for model training
  • Trial requires no credit card and includes the data-source integrations

Cons

  • Every paid tier is 'contact sales' with no number attached
  • Multiple workspaces, unlimited integrations and export are held back for higher tiers
  • The company behind it, Basilisk Labs, was only registered in 2024 — a short track record
  • No public API listed for pushing conclusions into your own stack

Which one fits

Choose Dovetail if you need

  • Product, research, and CX teams centralizing feedback from many tools
  • Regulated orgs needing HIPAA/SOC 2/GDPR-compliant handling of customer data
  • Teams wanting to query research via Slack or Teams instead of a separate app

Choose Squad if you need

  • Product teams drowning in feedback they never get time to synthesise
  • Founders who need a defensible roadmap without a research team
  • Replacing ad-hoc discovery docs with something that cites its data
