What our research says

Devplan

Devplan now leads with the step before engineering: it collects what customers ask for across calls, tickets and the CRM, turns repeated asks into ranked projects and writes specs checked against the code. Pricing by a pooled credit budget rather than per seat means sales, support and leadership can all use it without the bill tracking headcount. The reservations are that it is only as good as the integrations you actually switch on, and that this is a young, seed-funded company whose credit burn is hard to predict up front.

Pros

  • Pulls from calls, tickets, CRM, chat, code and docs rather than one tracker
  • Specs are checked against the codebase before they are written, then handed to Jira, Linear or coding agents
  • Daily digest and generated project status with no manual status entry
  • Credits are pooled across the company, so there is no per-seat charge
  • SOC 2 Type II and a self-hosted deployment option on Enterprise

Cons

  • Credit metering makes the monthly cost hard to predict before you know your usage
  • Value depends on connecting a wide set of systems, including call recordings and the CRM
  • Young company on a 2.5 million dollar seed round, so continuity is unproven
  • Free credits expire after three months and unused monthly credits do not roll over

Productboard

Productboard has moved fully upmarket: the free and $19 Plus plans are gone, and both remaining tiers are sold through a demo or sales call with Spark, its AI agent, built in. It is still a mature feedback-to-roadmap system for product organisations, but small teams no longer have a self-serve way in.

Pros

  • Long operating history (founded 2014) with named enterprise customers
  • AI agent (Spark) adds context-aware insight generation and spec drafting
  • MCP server and connectors included on Business, plus API access

Cons

  • No public price: Business needs a demo request and Enterprise a sales call
  • Free and Plus self-serve plans have been withdrawn
  • AI work is metered in credits per maker on top of seat pricing

Which one fits

Choose Devplan if you need

  • Product leads who spend their week reassembling customer demand and project status
  • Teams already on GitHub, Jira or Linear plus Slack who want one answer surface
  • Organisations that want a self-hosted or SOC 2 deployment of that data

Choose Productboard if you need

  • Product teams at mid-size to large companies centralising feedback and roadmaps
  • Organizations wanting AI-assisted insight extraction from large feedback volumes
