Assist itself is free for design and exploration. Publishing needs a Highcharts commercial licence sold per developer seat: Core $366/seat, plus Stock $366, Maps $128, Gantt $73; Dashboards $264 and Grid Pro $316 are separate products. Sold as annual subscriptions or perpetual licences with the Advantage support plan.
Use tool ↗About Highcharts Assist
Highcharts Assist is a conversational front end to the Highcharts library from Highsoft, the Norwegian company behind it. You paste raw data, describe the chart you want in any language the model handles, and refine it in the same conversation until the output is publishable. Designing and exploring with Assist costs nothing; publishing the resulting chart requires a Highcharts commercial licence, which is sold per developer seat — Core at $366 a seat, with Stock at $366 more, Maps $128, Gantt $73, Dashboards $264 and Grid Pro $316, as annual subscriptions or perpetual licences with an Advantage support plan. Highsoft warns that generated charts may contain inaccuracies and that personal data should not be pasted in.

Pros & cons of Highcharts Assist
This is a shortcut through Highcharts configuration, which is the genuinely tedious part of using the library. If you already hold a licence it collapses an afternoon of option-object fiddling into a conversation. If you do not, the free design step is a demo that ends at a $366-per-seat paywall the moment you want to ship the chart.
Pros
- Goes from pasted raw data to a working chart config in one conversation
- Free to use for design and exploration with no account gate mentioned
- Iterative refinement in the same thread, in any language the model handles
- Backed by a long-established charting vendor rather than a wrapper startup
Cons
- Publishing anything requires a paid commercial licence from $366 per seat
- Highsoft warns generated charts may contain inaccuracies or copyright issues
- Advised not to paste personal data, which rules out real customer datasets
- Licence stacking — Stock, Maps and Gantt each cost extra per seat
Best for
- teams already licensed for Highcharts
- developers who know what chart they want but not the config keys
- quick prototyping from pasted spreadsheet data
Not for
- projects on free charting libraries with no licence budget
- anything involving personal or regulated data
Watch out: Free design is not free publishing — shipping a chart made in Assist still needs a Highcharts commercial licence.
