Glean vs Langdock

Two fact sheets from our own research, side by side — pricing, platforms, API access and status re-checked by us rather than quoted from the vendors. Langdock publishes a starting price ($27); Glean does not. Both ship a public API.

What our research says

Glean

Glean is the reference implementation of permission-aware enterprise search, and permissions are the hard part everyone else underestimates. It is also priced so that only companies with a real sprawl problem can justify it.

Pros

  • Permission inheritance from each connected system is done properly, not approximated
  • Answers cite and link the underlying documents rather than paraphrasing them away
  • Connector coverage across the mainstream SaaS estate is broad
  • Commercially solid: about $300M ARR by May 2026 at a $7.2B valuation

Cons

  • No published price anywhere, and contracts start in six figures
  • Value depends entirely on connector coverage of your specific stack
  • Index quality inherits whatever mess exists in the source systems
  • Overlaps increasingly with Microsoft and Google's bundled offerings, which cost nothing extra

Langdock

Langdock sells the thing European enterprises actually need before they can roll out AI: one assistant across the company, hosted in the EU, with admin controls, audit and no single-model lock-in. The customer list (Merck, BASF, Der Spiegel) and the compliance certifications back that up. The pricing is where to look closely — the EUR 25 seat is only the base, and workflows, governance and API tokens are three separate meters on top.

Pros

  • Model-agnostic, so the underlying provider can change without a migration
  • EU hosting with ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliance
  • Cloud or on-premise deployment, plus custom branding
  • Chat, agents, workflows, integrations and API in one platform
  • Web, iOS and Android clients, and a 7-day trial with no card

Cons

  • Four separate meters: seats, workflow runs, governance and API tokens
  • The workflow add-on starts at EUR 539/month, far above the seat price
  • Governance is free only until January 2027, then EUR 3.50 per user per month
  • Priced in euros, so the dollar cost moves with the exchange rate
  • Enterprise pricing above 1,000 users requires a sales conversation

Which one fits

Choose Glean if you need

  • Organisations above roughly 500 people whose knowledge is scattered across a dozen SaaS tools
  • Regulated or security-conscious buyers who need source-system permissions honoured exactly
  • Teams building internal agents that need governed access to company context

Choose Langdock if you need

  • European enterprises that need EU hosting and GDPR posture before rollout
  • Organisations that want to switch underlying models without changing tools
  • IT teams needing admin governance, branding and on-premise options
