What our research says

Gamma

The tool that genuinely displaced PowerPoint for a lot of people, and it is profitable enough not to need your money — but credits, not seats, decide how much a plan is actually worth.

Pros

  • Layout and image choice happen without picking a template first
  • One document publishes as a deck, a doc or a live web page
  • Plus at $8/user/month already removes the Gamma badge
  • Profitable at over $100M ARR, so the vendor is not a runway risk

Cons

  • Credit accounting is opaque — a premium image can cost up to 125 credits
  • API keys are locked to Pro and above
  • The free plan's 400 signup credits do not go far on image-rich decks
  • Export fidelity to PowerPoint degrades on complex layouts

Shyne

Shyne's pitch, a live canvas a team and an AI both work in, rather than a chat window bolted onto a document editor, is a genuine structural difference from most AI writing/design tools, and it inherits real product experience from the same team's earlier NextDocs editor. Per-seat credit pricing means cost scales with team size in a way that's easy to estimate up front. The main open question is output quality across such a wide format range (decks, docs, social, video, sites) versus tools that specialize in just one.

Pros

  • one shared canvas for decks, documents, social posts, images, video, and simple websites
  • content calendar and brand kit built in rather than sold as add-ons
  • free tier includes 1,000 AI credits per seat monthly, enough for a real trial
  • comes from the team behind an existing, supported product (NextDocs)

Cons

  • per-seat pricing on Pro and Ultra can add up quickly for larger teams
  • spreading across six-plus output formats may mean shallower depth in each versus a specialist tool
  • operating company's country isn't disclosed on the site

Which one fits

Choose Gamma if you need

  • Anyone who needs a presentable deck out of rough notes in minutes
  • Teams publishing one-page sites and documents without a website tool
  • Users who want AI layout but expect to keep editing afterwards

Choose Shyne if you need

  • small marketing or creative teams wanting one tool for decks, docs, and social content
  • teams that already used NextDocs and want the same maker's newer product
