What our research says

Chronicle

The editing model is what separates this from the pile of deck generators: instead of regenerating a slide you tell it what to change and it changes it, so a generated deck is a starting point rather than a throwaway. Brand themes, PowerPoint export and an API make it usable inside a company rather than only for a one-off pitch. The token allowance per seat is the real meter, and PowerPoint export is gated behind the $30 tier.

Pros

  • Natural-language editing of existing slides, not just first-pass generation
  • Exports to PowerPoint and PDF and publishes to the web
  • Custom brand themes and shared workspaces on paid tiers
  • Free tier of 10 decks is enough to judge output quality
  • Documented API for programmatic deck creation

Cons

  • Priced per seat with a separate monthly token cap that limits generation
  • PowerPoint export and the Muse agent require the $30 Plus tier
  • The company publishes no headquarters or registered address

Gamma

The tool that genuinely displaced PowerPoint for a lot of people, and it is profitable enough not to need your money — but credits, not seats, decide how much a plan is actually worth.

Pros

  • Layout and image choice happen without picking a template first
  • One document publishes as a deck, a doc or a live web page
  • Plus at $8/user/month already removes the Gamma badge
  • Profitable at over $100M ARR, so the vendor is not a runway risk

Cons

  • Credit accounting is opaque — a premium image can cost up to 125 credits
  • API keys are locked to Pro and above
  • The free plan's 400 signup credits do not go far on image-rich decks
  • Export fidelity to PowerPoint degrades on complex layouts
