What our research says

Basquio

Worth trying if your bottleneck is turning a data dump into a citable deck and reconciled workbook fast; the pay-per-report option means you are not stuck in a subscription for one-off work. The catch is that SOC 2 compliance is still only planned, not certified, so treat sensitive client data cautiously until that lands.

Pros

  • Pay-per-report option avoids a forced subscription for occasional use
  • Outputs three formats at once: slide deck, narrative report, and Excel workbook
  • Charts carry source attribution automatically
  • Workspace memory persists brand rules and context across projects

Cons

  • SOC 2 Type 1 is listed as planned, not yet certified
  • No free tier to test output quality before paying
  • Operating company and country are not disclosed on the site
  • Homepage and blog show different currencies/prices for the same tiers

Gamma

The tool that genuinely displaced PowerPoint for a lot of people, and it is profitable enough not to need your money — but credits, not seats, decide how much a plan is actually worth.

Pros

  • Layout and image choice happen without picking a template first
  • One document publishes as a deck, a doc or a live web page
  • Plus at $8/user/month already removes the Gamma badge
  • Profitable at over $100M ARR, so the vendor is not a runway risk

Cons

  • Credit accounting is opaque — a premium image can cost up to 125 credits
  • API keys are locked to Pro and above
  • The free plan's 400 signup credits do not go far on image-rich decks
  • Export fidelity to PowerPoint degrades on complex layouts
