What our research says

Gamma

The tool that genuinely displaced PowerPoint for a lot of people, and it is profitable enough not to need your money — but credits, not seats, decide how much a plan is actually worth.

Pros

  • Layout and image choice happen without picking a template first
  • One document publishes as a deck, a doc or a live web page
  • Plus at $8/user/month already removes the Gamma badge
  • Profitable at over $100M ARR, so the vendor is not a runway risk

Cons

  • Credit accounting is opaque — a premium image can cost up to 125 credits
  • API keys are locked to Pro and above
  • The free plan's 400 signup credits do not go far on image-rich decks
  • Export fidelity to PowerPoint degrades on complex layouts

okkslides

A competent deck generator at a price well under the better-known slide tools, with a community gallery that gives you something to copy from. What you give up is any idea who you are buying from: no company, no address, and legal pages that never render.

Pros

  • Two clearly priced monthly tiers at $11.99 and $25.00 with credit allowances stated
  • Exports to PowerPoint rather than trapping decks in the editor
  • Community gallery of user decks to start from
  • Interface localised well beyond English

Cons

  • No company name, address or contact is published anywhere on the site
  • The terms and privacy routes return an empty page, not a document
  • Credit metering means a heavy month can run out mid-deck

Which one fits

Choose Gamma if you need

  • Anyone who needs a presentable deck out of rough notes in minutes
  • Teams publishing one-page sites and documents without a website tool
  • Users who want AI layout but expect to keep editing afterwards

Choose okkslides if you need

  • Quick internal or client decks where speed beats bespoke design
  • Non-English decks, since the UI ships in several locales
  • People who want PowerPoint files out rather than a locked web viewer
