What our research says

Gamma

The tool that genuinely displaced PowerPoint for a lot of people, and it is profitable enough not to need your money — but credits, not seats, decide how much a plan is actually worth.

Pros

  • Layout and image choice happen without picking a template first
  • One document publishes as a deck, a doc or a live web page
  • Plus at $8/user/month already removes the Gamma badge
  • Profitable at over $100M ARR, so the vendor is not a runway risk

Cons

  • Credit accounting is opaque — a premium image can cost up to 125 credits
  • API keys are locked to Pro and above
  • The free plan's 400 signup credits do not go far on image-rich decks
  • Export fidelity to PowerPoint degrades on complex layouts

GenPPT AI

Useful when the source material already exists and you need it shaped into slides, because the PDF, Word and YouTube importers do more work than a blank-prompt generator. Export is real PPTX, so the deck stays editable outside the tool. The vendor is anonymous: no company name, address or country appears anywhere, which matters if you are feeding it internal documents.

Pros

  • Imports PDFs, Word files, HTML pages and YouTube videos as deck sources
  • Exports PPTX that opens in PowerPoint, Google Slides and Keynote
  • Generates speaker notes with the slides
  • Lets you pick the writing model and image quality per plan

Cons

  • Credit metering makes real monthly cost hard to predict from deck counts
  • No company name, address or country published
  • No API or integrations advertised

Which one fits

Choose Gamma if you need

  • Anyone who needs a presentable deck out of rough notes in minutes
  • Teams publishing one-page sites and documents without a website tool
  • Users who want AI layout but expect to keep editing afterwards

Choose GenPPT AI if you need

  • turning an existing report into a deck
  • people who need editable PPTX rather than a locked web deck
  • multi-language decks built from one source document
