CreateDraft

As a template picker wrapped around OpenAI models, CreateDraft is a faster start than a blank page, and 373 templates against 200-plus jurisdictions is a wide net. The problem is everything around it: no named company, an About page that says coming soon, and no published price for a tool that drafts binding documents. Treat the output as a first draft for a lawyer to mark up.

Pros

  • 373 named templates spanning commercial, employment, property, family and IP documents
  • Jurisdiction and language pickers covering 200-plus countries and roughly 55 languages
  • Draft length is selectable from about 500 to 2,000-plus words
  • Guests get 5,000 words a day with no account and no card

Cons

  • No company, address or jurisdiction of the vendor is published anywhere
  • The About page is literally a coming soon placeholder
  • There is no pricing page, so what unlimited credits costs after signup is unknown
  • Model choice is exposed but there is no clause library, citation or legal source behind the output

Spellbook

Spellbook wins on the thing that decides legal-tech adoption: it lives in Word, where the lawyers already are, instead of asking them to move. The cost of that is a sales process and a price you cannot check before you engage.

Pros

  • Native Word add-in means near-zero behaviour change for the people who have to use it
  • Benchmarks against both market norms and the firm's own precedent, not just generic templates
  • Well capitalised: $50M Series B led by Khosla in October 2025 plus $40M debt in March 2026
  • 7-day free trial is available without going through procurement

Cons

  • No published pricing at any tier, so budgeting requires a sales conversation
  • No API, which blocks integration into an existing contract lifecycle system
  • Priced per seat, so cost scales with headcount rather than contract volume
  • The vendor is now actively acquiring competitors, so the product surface may shift
