The home page's pricing block shows Free and Pro cards with the dollar amounts injected by script, so no figure was readable today; the vendor's own Pro-plan post (November 2023) lists Pro at $8.99 per 30 days against a $16.99 list price and $89.90 per 360 days, auto-renewing. The free card today lists 3 pages per file, PDF only, and small daily caps on questions and uploads (10 and 100 in total).
Use tool ↗About ChatDOC
ChatDOC ingests PDFs, Office files, EPUBs, scans and web pages, then answers questions about them with each claim linked back to the exact passage it came from. Its parsing engine deals with cross-page tables, formulas and embedded images, and that engine is sold separately as a PDF-parsing API for teams building their own retrieval pipelines. Browser extensions put the reader inside Chrome and Edge.

- Home page pricing block shows a Free card (3 pages per file, PDF only, daily question and upload caps) and a Pro card whose price renders as an empty $ per 30 or 360 days because the amount is injected by script; the Pricing nav link is a bare anchor and subscribe buttons go to the in-app upload route (15 October 2026)chatdoc.com ↗
- Vendor's Pro-plan post, dated 22 November 2023 and still live: Pro $8.99 per 30 days (original $16.99) and $89.9 per 360 days (original $169.9) on auto-renewal; free tier 10 files and 100 questions in total, 20 pages per filechatdoc.com ↗
- Home page links a ChatDOC API, a standalone PDF Parser at pdfparser.io, Chrome and Edge extensions, and supports PDF, DOC, DOCX, scans, websites, EPUB, MD and TXT with TapSource citations; footer reads ChatDOC.com © 2026 with no company name, address or country (15 October 2026)chatdoc.com ↗

Pros & cons of ChatDOC
Choose it over generic PDF chatbots for one reason: it shows you where the answer came from, one click to the highlighted passage. If you are assembling your own RAG stack, the standalone parser API is arguably the more interesting half of the product.
Pros
- Every answer is anchored to its source passage, which is the entire point of the product
- Handles cross-page tables, formulas and scanned documents, not just clean text
- The parser ships as its own API, so ingestion quality can be tested independently
- Cheap next to per-seat document AI products
Cons
- Ownership and jurisdiction are not disclosed anywhere on the site, which matters for confidential documents
- Free tier is tight enough to work as a demo rather than a usable plan
- Billing runs in 30-day and 360-day blocks instead of a conventional monthly subscription
- No team or workspace tier is published
Best for
- Researchers and analysts who must verify every figure they quote
- Legal and compliance reading where a fabricated citation is unacceptable
- Developers needing a table- and formula-aware PDF parser behind an API
- Students working through long scanned texts that need OCR
Not for
- Casual one-off summarisation — a general chatbot with file upload does that free
- Teams needing shared workspaces and seat-level administration
- Anyone who requires self-hosted or on-premise deployment
Watch out: The headline $8.99 is a promotional rate against a $16.99 list price and renews on a 30-day cycle — check what your renewal actually charges before it fires.
