Use tool ↗About Cascadeur
Cascadeur is a desktop application for keyframe animation of humanoid and non-humanoid characters, where a neural network fills in a full body pose after you move a handful of control points. A physics layer then adjusts trajectories and center of mass so jumps, falls and impacts read as plausible without hand-tuning every frame. It reads and writes FBX, DAE and USD, so it sits between a rigging tool and Unreal, Unity or Blender instead of replacing them.

Pros & cons of Cascadeur
One of the few places where AI removes real drudgery instead of adding a demo feature: AutoPosing cuts most of the tedium out of blocking a pose, and Indie at $96 a year, which turns into a perpetual licence after twelve months, is still cheap for what it does. Monthly Indie has risen to $19, so pay yearly if you plan to stay. The free tier is the part to read carefully.
Pros
- AutoPosing and AutoPhysics measurably shorten blocking and polish passes
- Annual licences convert to perpetual after a year, so a lapsed subscription does not brick your work
- Runs on Windows, Apple Silicon macOS and Ubuntu
Cons
- Free tier exports only the native .casc format — no FBX or DAE at all
- Free tier caps scenes at 300 frames and 120 joints and bars commercial use
- Intel Macs are unsupported
Best for
- Indie game developers blocking action animation with no mocap budget
- Animators who need believable weight on jumps, falls and impacts
- Studios cleaning up or retargeting existing mocap takes
Not for
- Facial animation or lipsync — this is a body-mechanics tool
- Anyone wanting one package for modelling, rigging and rendering as well
Watch out: The free licence also requires gross revenue or funding under $100,000 over the previous twelve months, so it is not a free tool for a funded studio.
