Cascadeur vs Uthana

Two fact sheets from our own research, side by side — pricing, platforms, API access and status re-checked by us rather than quoted from the vendors. Cascadeur starts at $12, Uthana at $10. Both have a free tier. Only Uthana ships a public API.

What our research says

Cascadeur

One of the few places where AI removes real drudgery instead of adding a demo feature — AutoPosing cuts most of the tedium out of blocking a pose, and Indie at $12/month undercuts everything comparable. The free tier is the part to read carefully.

Pros

  • AutoPosing and AutoPhysics measurably shorten blocking and polish passes
  • Annual licences convert to perpetual after a year, so a lapsed subscription does not brick your work
  • Runs on Windows, Apple Silicon macOS and Ubuntu

Cons

  • Free tier exports only the native .casc format — no FBX or DAE at all
  • Free tier caps scenes at 300 frames and 120 joints and bars commercial use
  • Intel Macs are unsupported

Uthana

Uthana solves a specific and expensive problem: getting usable human motion onto a rig without mocap or an animator. Text, video and pose inputs all land on the same retargeting pipeline, exports match what game and film tools expect, and there is a real API. The pricing model is the thing to understand - you are billed by seconds of downloaded motion, not by how much you generate.

Pros

  • Text, video, pose and constraint inputs all feed the same motion model
  • Auto-rigging in under 30 seconds plus retargeting across different skeletons
  • Exports FBX, GLB and BVH and integrates with Maya, Blender, Unreal, Unity and Roblox
  • GraphQL API and SDKs with real-time inference for in-engine control
  • Library of 100,000-plus existing motion clips alongside generation
  • Free tier allows unlimited generation, which makes evaluation cheap

Cons

  • Free tier output is non-commercial Creative Commons only
  • Billing is in download seconds, so 30 free seconds a month runs out fast
  • Character uploads and generations are separately capped on every tier
  • Enterprise pricing jumps to $660 a month and up
