What our research says

Cascadeur

One of the few places where AI removes real drudgery instead of adding a demo feature — AutoPosing cuts most of the tedium out of blocking a pose, and Indie at $12/month undercuts everything comparable. The free tier is the part to read carefully.

Pros

  • AutoPosing and AutoPhysics measurably shorten blocking and polish passes
  • Annual licences convert to perpetual after a year, so a lapsed subscription does not brick your work
  • Runs on Windows, Apple Silicon macOS and Ubuntu

Cons

  • Free tier exports only the native .casc format — no FBX or DAE at all
  • Free tier caps scenes at 300 frames and 120 joints and bars commercial use
  • Intel Macs are unsupported

Krikey AI

The genuinely useful part is FBX export — video-to-motion without a mocap suit, at $15 a seat. As a finished-video tool the results look like stock 3D avatars, so treat it as an animation source feeding your real pipeline.

Pros

  • FBX export means the motion leaves the platform and lands in Unity, Unreal or Blender
  • video-to-animation removes the need for mocap hardware or a suit
  • flat per-seat pricing instead of credit metering, so heavy use does not escalate the bill
  • Canva and ChatGPT app integrations cut down tool switching

Cons

  • the avatar library gives everything a recognisably similar look
  • browser-only, so long or complex scenes hit practical limits fast
  • no API for batch or programmatic generation
  • the company dates to 2017 and long predates the animation product, so company age is a poor proxy for tool maturity

Which one fits

Choose Cascadeur if you need

  • Indie game developers blocking action animation with no mocap budget
  • Animators who need believable weight on jumps, falls and impacts
  • Studios cleaning up or retargeting existing mocap takes

Choose Krikey AI if you need

  • extracting reusable motion clips from ordinary phone video
  • teachers and students making explainer animation with no 3D background
  • game and XR prototyping that needs placeholder character motion
  • social content built around a recurring 3D presenter
