Use tool ↗About Astria
Astria trains a custom image model from a small set of photos of a person, product or garment, then generates new images of that subject from text prompts. It is sold mainly as a fine-tuning API that headshot apps and ecommerce studios build on top of, with a web interface for direct use. Billing draws on a prepaid account balance charged per training run and per generation batch rather than a monthly plan.

Pros & cons of Astria
Astria is the plumbing a lot of AI-headshot and virtual-try-on products are quietly built on. Buy it if you are shipping a subject-consistent image feature; skip it if you just want ten headshots of yourself, where a packaged consumer app is cheaper and far less work.
Pros
- priced per fine-tune and per generation, with no subscription floor
- a free mock mode lets you test the integration end to end without spending
- auto top-off refills the balance so production API calls are not interrupted
- subject consistency is the core competence, not a bolt-on feature
Cons
- you pay for every training run, including the ones that come out wrong
- output quality depends heavily on input photo selection and prompt craft
- with no monthly plan, cost forecasting means modelling call volume yourself
- the marketing site now targets fashion and ecommerce, so general users get less guidance
Best for
- developers building headshot, avatar or try-on products on someone else's training stack
- ecommerce teams needing the same garment or product across many generated shots
- studios that need one face to stay consistent across a whole campaign
Not for
- one-off personal headshots — consumer apps bundle this cheaper
- generic text-to-image work with no trained subject involved
Watch out: Every fine-tune is billed whether or not the result is usable, so budget for several training attempts per subject before you get a keeper.
