Use tool ↗About WRITER
WRITER started as an AI writing and brand-consistency tool for enterprise marketing and is now sold as an agent platform. WRITER Agent is a single interface for chat and automation: teams describe multi-step work in natural language as Playbooks, schedule them as routines and chain them across departments, with outputs such as documents, presentations, data analysis, images and browser automation. A Knowledge Graph and connectors ground the agents in company data, while brand voice profiles, guardrails, audit logs and role-based access handle governance. It runs on WRITER's own Palmyra models by default and can work with other LLMs, with an API for developers. Writer, Inc. was launched in 2020 by May Habib and Waseem AlShikh and is headquartered in San Francisco.

Pros & cons of WRITER
WRITER is built for large marketing, sales and support organisations that want governed AI agents tied to their own data and brand rules, with admin controls that security teams expect. Individuals and small businesses looking for an inexpensive writing assistant will find it oversized and hard to price without talking to sales.
Pros
- Governance features such as audit logs, guardrails and role-based access
- Knowledge Graph and connectors ground outputs in company data
- Own Palmyra models with the option to use other LLMs
- 14-day free trial of Starter without a credit card
Cons
- No published price for any plan
- Starter is capped at 5 users, 5 Playbooks and 3 active connectors
- Most advanced orchestration and connectors are Enterprise-only
Best for
- Enterprise marketing teams automating content and campaign workflows under brand rules
- Regulated companies that need audit logs, SSO and HIPAA or SOC 2 paperwork
- Organisations that want agents grounded in internal knowledge via a managed graph
Not for
- Freelancers and small teams wanting a cheap self-serve writing tool
- Buyers who need published per-seat pricing before evaluating
Watch out: Starter limits (5 users, 5 Playbooks, 3 connectors, one team profile) are tight enough that real departmental rollouts land on Enterprise, which is negotiated with sales.
