Pros & cons of Wonderplan
Fine as a free first draft for a trip you will still research yourself; it is not a booking tool and the suggestions gravitate to the obvious landmarks. Use it to kill the blank page, not to trust an address or an opening time.
Pros
- Genuinely free with no paywall on the core planner
- Itinerary is editable rather than a fixed block of generated text
- PDF export makes the plan usable without signal
- Fast enough to iterate through several destination options
Cons
- No live pricing, availability or booking links inside the itinerary; the separate Deals page is affiliate discount codes
- Recommendations repeat the same landmarks for popular cities
- The terms, updated January 2026, name a Hong Kong company as operator and already provide for paid features
- No public API, calendar sync or mobile app found
Best for
- Sketching a rough day-by-day plan for a first visit to a city
- Producing a shareable PDF outline to argue over with travel companions
- Comparing two or three candidate destinations quickly
Not for
- Trips with hard logistics such as permits, ferries or timed entries
- Anyone needing live prices, availability or bookable inventory
- Off-the-beaten-path routes where the underlying model has thin data
Watch out: The vendor only commits to free pricing for now, so a paywall could land on the features you have come to rely on.
