What our research says

Thinkbuddy

Thinkbuddy's distinct feature is querying multiple AI models simultaneously from one Mac app rather than switching between separate chat windows, plus local Whisper transcription for voice input. Company details and current pricing are thin on the vendor's own site, so the lifetime-price figure here comes from third-party reviews rather than a first-party source.

Pros

  • Queries multiple AI models (GPT-4o, Claude, Gemini, Deepseek) at once for side-by-side comparison
  • Local Whisper-based transcription for voice input and text-to-speech
  • Screenshot analysis and URL text extraction built in

Cons

  • Vendor's own site provides very little pricing or company detail directly
  • Reviewers note the lifetime-price model may be hard to sustain given ongoing LLM API costs
  • Currently Mac-only, with web and Windows described only as planned

TypingMind

The right buy if you already pay for API credits and resent a second $20/month subscription per model vendor. Pointless if you only use one model casually, because the raw ChatGPT or Claude app is free and better integrated.

Pros

  • One-time personal licence instead of a recurring fee is genuinely rare in this category
  • Model coverage is broad, including self-hosted OpenAI-compatible endpoints
  • Teams edition covers SSO, RBAC and audit logs, which most BYOK front ends do not

Cons

  • You pay token costs on top of the licence, so heavy use is not cheaper than a flat subscription
  • Feature parity with vendor apps always lags after a model launch
  • Desktop presence is mostly a browser install rather than a full native app

Which one fits

Choose Thinkbuddy if you need

  • Mac users who want to compare multiple AI models' answers to the same prompt
  • Users wanting voice input and local transcription in one app
  • People who prefer a one-time purchase over a subscription, if the lifetime option is still offered

Choose TypingMind if you need

  • Heavy users who want one window across OpenAI, Anthropic and Google keys
  • Teams that need shared prompts and preset keys without giving everyone a seat on each vendor
  • People who want chat history in their own browser or storage rather than a vendor account
