Overview

About Stillgram

Stillgram is a point-and-shoot iPhone camera that removes background crowds from travel photos as you take them. You tap to mark who stays in frame, and it outputs both a still and a short clip in which the crowd fades away. All processing runs on the iPhone's Neural Engine, so it works without a data connection and no photos leave the device. The free tier caps output at 1K resolution, restricts crowd removal to selfies and watermarks results; the paid tier lifts that to 4K with editing and no watermark. It is a two-person product by Marek Ekes and Adam Gronczewski, iOS only, and the App Store listing has not been updated since June 2023.

Editorial verdict

Pros & cons of Stillgram

medium confidence

A narrow tool that does one thing genuinely well: crowds vanish from landmark photos without a round trip to anyone's server. The offline, on-device design is the real selling point for travel. The worry is maintenance — the App Store build has sat untouched since mid-2023.

Pros

  • Runs entirely on the iPhone Neural Engine — works offline and uploads nothing
  • Tap-to-keep control over which people stay in frame
  • Produces a short clip of the crowd disappearing, not just a still
  • Free tier is usable, if watermarked and capped at 1K

Cons

  • iOS only, with no web or Android version
  • App Store listing shows no update since June 2023
  • Free tier limits crowd removal to selfies and stamps a watermark
  • Pricing differs between the website and the App Store listing
  • No company entity or country published

Best for

  • travellers shooting busy landmarks without data roaming
  • people who want photos processed without cloud upload
  • quick crowd cleanup at capture time rather than in an editor later

Not for

  • Android or desktop users
  • general-purpose object removal beyond crowds

Watch out: The App Store build was last updated in June 2023 — check it still works on your iOS version before paying.
