Scraib is a macOS menu-bar utility that rewrites whatever text is selected, in any app, when the user presses Control-R. Tone and style rules are set once — formal for email, casual for chat — and apply automatically per app, or can be overridden case by case. It works inside more than 20 tested apps including mail clients, chat tools, document editors, and design tools, and can call ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or a locally-run Ollama model so text never has to leave the machine if privacy matters. The subscription is $3.99 a month after a 7-day trial; a one-time $10 unlock lets a user plug in their own API keys instead of paying monthly. It is built by a solo developer and only runs on macOS.

Pros & cons of Scraib.app
Scraib's whole value is the keyboard shortcut — select text anywhere on a Mac, hit Control-R, and get a rewrite without copy-pasting into a separate app. Being a solo-developer product, the $3.99 monthly fee is reasonable, but the site itself was intermittently unreachable during research, which is worth checking before paying.
