OpenPhone, renamed: shared business numbers, texting and an AI agent that answers after hours
Quo is the current name of OpenPhone, the business phone system OpenPhone Technologies, Inc. has run since 2018. Numbers belong to the team rather than to individuals: calls route by rules, texts and voicemails land in a shared inbox, voicemail is transcribed and call analytics sit on top. The AI piece is Sona, a voice agent that picks up outside working hours and handles the call instead of dropping it into voicemail. It runs on iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and the web, integrates with Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack, Zapier and around twenty more tools, and exposes a public API. Pricing is per user: Starter is $15 a seat a month on annual billing, $19 month-to-month, with Business and Scale above it, after a seven-day trial. The company says it serves more than 90,000 businesses.
Charged per user, not per workspace. Starter is $15 per user a month billed annually ($180 a year) or $19 month-to-month; Business is $23 annual / $33 monthly; Scale is $35 annual / $47 monthly. A seven-day trial precedes any of them, so a five-person team on Starter starts at $900 a year.
Use tool ↗This is a mature product wearing a new name: eight years of operation, 90,000-plus businesses and apps on every platform, now rebranded from OpenPhone to Quo with an AI voice agent as the headline addition. The shared-number model genuinely fits small teams better than per-person extensions. The thing to plan for is the rename itself — documentation, integrations and half the internet still say OpenPhone, and that ambiguity will cost you time.
Watch out: Almost every third-party guide, integration listing and support answer still calls it OpenPhone — search under the old name when you need help.
