Overview

About Mio

Mio was a phone-calling agent for the hold-music problem: you told it who to call and what you needed, it dialled from its own number, worked through the phone menu, waited on hold and called you back to join the line once a real person answered. It never spoke as you, and billing was per call with no subscription. The service stopped operating in September 2026; the site now carries a shutdown note from the founder and keeps its free phone-call guides for the IRS, SSA, DMV and similar offices online.

Editorial verdict

Pros & cons of Mio

high confidence

Mio has shut down, so there is nothing to sign up for. It did one narrow job well, sitting through phone trees and hold queues and ringing you when a human picked up, but its founder writes that people preferred to make the calls themselves. Anyone who still wants an agent to wait on hold for them needs one of the alternatives; the founder points to 19pine.

Pros

  • Clear shutdown note from the founder on the home page
  • Terms page kept online with the shutdown date for reference
  • Phone guides for government and service lines are still free to read

Cons

  • The service stopped operating in September 2026 and no longer places calls
  • No data-export or account notice is given beyond the founder's note

Best for

  • Reference only: the service no longer places calls
  • Readers who want the free phone-number and hold-time guides that remain on the site

Not for

  • Anyone looking for a working hold-and-callback agent today
  • New users, since the service stopped operating in September 2026

Watch out: The domain still ranks for hold-time searches through its guides, but the calling service behind it is gone; do not expect the web app to place a call.
