Use tool βAbout Mem0
Mem0 gives language-model applications a persistent memory. Your code sends conversation messages through the Python or Node SDK, Mem0 extracts the facts worth keeping, such as dietary needs or preferences, and later returns the relevant ones for a given user or agent. It is available as an open-source library under Apache-2.0 and as a hosted platform with usage limits, graph memory and analytics on higher tiers. It also exposes an MCP integration and an OpenMemory gateway. Developers building assistants, support bots or agents with long-running context are the audience.

Pros & cons of Mem0
Mem0 is a reasonable way to add cross-session personalisation to an agent without designing your own memory store, and the open-source library means you can start locally and move to the hosted service later. The hosted tiers are priced by request counts, so chatty agents can burn through the small plans faster than the user counts suggest.
Pros
- Open-source library under Apache-2.0 with a hosted platform for production
- Free tier with unlimited end users
- SDKs plus MCP, CLI and a gateway for common agent setups
- Compliance posture is published, including SOC 2 Type I
Cons
- Graph memory, advanced analytics and private Slack support only start at the $249 Pro tier
- Free and Starter tiers allow few retrieval requests, 1,000 and 5,000 a month
- Quality depends on what the extraction step decides to store, which you cannot fully control
Best for
- Developers adding per-user memory to chatbots, support agents or assistants
- Teams that want an open-source memory library with a hosted option
- Agent builders who need memory exposed over MCP
Not for
- Non-developers looking for a ready-made personal assistant
- Projects that need a plain vector database rather than extracted, curated memories
Watch out: Limits are on add and retrieval requests per month, not on users, so a busy agent that searches memory on every turn can exhaust the 1,000 free retrievals quickly. Self-hosting the open-source version means you run the storage and models yourself.
