Use tool ↗About StartKit.AI
StartKit.AI is a codebase you buy, not a service you subscribe to. Purchase gives access to a GitHub repository containing REST endpoints for chat, images, embeddings and retrieval over a vector database, plus user authentication, Stripe and Lemon Squeezy billing, transactional email and several runnable demo applications with written setup guides. The backend and demos are Node and JavaScript, and the FAQ says OpenAI models are what it supports today. It is sold by Squarecat, an Estonian company that uses the same boilerplate for its own email product Ellie, so updates track a shipping codebase. Buyers get one year of updates and a perpetual fallback licence; sales are final.

Pros & cons of StartKit.AI
If you are starting another AI wrapper and do not want to rewrite auth, billing and a retrieval pipeline from scratch, this is a cheap shortcut with code you keep forever. One payment, a year of updates, no platform lock-in. The trade-offs are that it is JavaScript-only, OpenAI-centric in practice despite broader claims, and maintenance becomes yours the day the update window closes.
Pros
- One-time price with no recurring fee and a perpetual fallback licence
- Auth, Stripe and Lemon Squeezy billing, email and vector-database retrieval already wired
- Ships runnable demo apps and step-by-step deployment guides
- Kept current because the vendor runs its own product on the same code
Cons
- Backend and demos are plain JavaScript, with no TypeScript build
- The FAQ says only OpenAI models are supported today, contradicting the broader model list on the same page
- Updates are included for one year only
- Explicitly non-refundable, so you cannot try before committing
Best for
- Solo developers shipping a first AI SaaS quickly
- Node teams who want billing and auth already wired up
- Anyone who wants to own the source rather than rent a platform
Not for
- Python or TypeScript-first teams
- Buyers who want a hosted product with a support contract instead of a repository
Watch out: The marketing lists Anthropic, Groq and Llama, but the FAQ further down the same page says only OpenAI models are supported right now.
