What our research says

Mem0

Mem0 is a reasonable way to add cross-session personalisation to an agent without designing your own memory store, and the open-source library means you can start locally and move to the hosted service later. The hosted tiers are priced by request counts, so chatty agents can burn through the small plans faster than the user counts suggest.

Pros

  • Open-source library under Apache-2.0 with a hosted platform for production
  • Free tier with unlimited end users
  • SDKs plus MCP, CLI and a gateway for common agent setups
  • Compliance posture is published, including SOC 2 Type I

Cons

  • Graph memory, advanced analytics and private Slack support only start at the $249 Pro tier
  • Free and Starter tiers allow few retrieval requests, 1,000 and 5,000 a month
  • Quality depends on what the extraction step decides to store, which you cannot fully control

Versuno

Versuno's memloom collapses relational, vector, keyword, and graph retrieval into one Postgres engine instead of requiring a developer to wire together several specialized databases for an AI agent's memory. Being open source and Apache-2.0 licensed makes it low-risk to try today, but the hosted cloud version that would make it easier to run in production is not out yet.

Pros

  • Combines four retrieval types (relational, vector, keyword, graph) in one Postgres engine instead of separate systems
  • Apache-2.0 open source license means no cost and no vendor lock-in to try it
  • Public API and documentation are already live, not just a roadmap promise

Cons

  • The hosted cloud version is not yet available, so production use today means self-hosting and operating it
  • No pricing exists yet for whenever the hosted version does ship
  • A young project without a long operating track record

Which one fits

Choose Mem0 if you need

  • Developers adding per-user memory to chatbots, support agents or assistants
  • Teams that want an open-source memory library with a hosted option
  • Agent builders who need memory exposed over MCP

Choose Versuno if you need

  • Developers building AI agents who want one database instead of stitching together a vector store, a graph database, and Postgres separately
  • Teams already comfortable running and operating Postgres who want to avoid extra infrastructure
