No public price on the site: every call to action is 'Request a demo', and the legal pages carry a master agreement and proof-of-value terms, which points to an enterprise contract preceded by a paid or free pilot. Expect per-seat or per-document annual licensing negotiated with sales.

Overview

About Luminance

Luminance sells contract intelligence to large legal and procurement teams in three products: Negotiate brings precedent and the company's playbook into a live negotiation and can redline routine terms, Discover reads an entire contract portfolio to surface risk, obligations and commercial opportunities for due diligence or repapering, and Automate runs connected workflows from intake to signature. Under the hood it names a document search engine, a model trained on legal opinions and a validation layer that checks one model's output against another. The company, Luminance Technologies Ltd, came out of the University of Cambridge in 2015 and says more than 1,000 enterprises in over 70 countries use it. Nothing is priced publicly; every path on the site leads to a demo request.

Editorial verdict

Pros & cons of Luminance

medium confidence

Luminance is one of the longest-running contract AI vendors, and its strength is breadth across a portfolio: pointing it at thousands of agreements to find the clauses that deviate, the obligations nobody tracked and the paper that needs redoing. The negotiation product is the newer bet and competes with Harvey, Spellbook and the Word-native tools, so a team that mainly wants help drafting one contract at a time should compare on that use alone. It is an enterprise sale with no public price, a proof-of-value stage and a procurement cycle to match; small firms will find the entry bar high.

Pros

  • Portfolio-wide analysis finds anomalies and obligations across thousands of contracts, not one file at a time
  • Negotiate applies the company's own playbook and precedent during a live redline
  • Automate covers intake-to-signature workflow, so review, approval and signing stay in one system
  • A decade-old company spun out of Cambridge with a registered UK entity and stated use by 1,000+ enterprises

Cons

  • No public pricing, trial or self-serve path; evaluation goes through sales and a proof-of-value stage
  • Deployment options, integrations and any API are not described on the public site
  • Named customers and case studies are thin on the public pages, so claims rest on the vendor's own figures
  • Newer negotiation features face strong Word-native competition that may suit smaller teams better

Best for

  • In-house legal and procurement teams reviewing contracts at volume, from due diligence to repapering
  • Enterprises that want negotiation, portfolio analysis and workflow under one vendor
  • Organisations in regulated or multi-jurisdiction settings that need a UK-based vendor with an established track record

Not for

  • Solo lawyers or small firms looking for a self-serve subscription with a listed price
  • Teams that only need drafting help inside Word for occasional contracts

Watch out: The proof-of-value terms in the legal section mean the pilot itself may be a contract with its own obligations; read those terms before loading live agreements into a trial.
