What our research says

Lovable

The cleanest prompt-to-app experience for someone who cannot write React, and GitHub sync means you are not locked in — but 100 credits a month is less runway than it sounds once the app gets real.

Pros

  • Live preview after each change keeps iteration legible to non-developers
  • GitHub sync and Supabase mean the output is real, portable code
  • The free tier is enough to find out whether the idea works
  • Per-action credit costs are published, so estimating is possible

Cons

  • Free tier caps at 30 credits a month regardless of the daily grant
  • Debugging a bad generation can cost more credits than the original build
  • Opinionated stack — React front end, Supabase back end, little room to differ
  • No API for driving builds programmatically

Rork

Rork is one of the few prompt-to-app tools aimed at native mobile rather than yet another web dashboard, and it follows through to App Store submission. Pricing is where it bites: native iOS output exists only on the Max tier, which starts at $200 a month, so the affordable plans are effectively a React Native and web product.

Pros

  • Generates native SwiftUI and Kotlin/Compose projects, not only web wrappers
  • Covers the store path with Screenshot Studio and an App Store listing reviewer
  • Companion mobile app for building away from a computer
  • Free tier gives 5 credits a day to try the workflow

Cons

  • Native iOS output requires the Max tier, which starts at $200/month
  • Free projects are public; private projects begin at the Pro tier
  • Credits, not messages or time, are the billing unit, so cost per app is hard to predict

Which one fits

Choose Lovable if you need

  • Founders and designers shipping a working prototype without a developer
  • Anyone who wants generated code exported to GitHub rather than held hostage
  • Small internal tools needing authentication and a database on day one

Choose Rork if you need

  • Indie developers prototyping a mobile app without writing the scaffold
  • Shipping an Expo or React Native app quickly on the Pro tier
  • Turning an existing web app idea into a store submission
